SKIING IN SOUTHERN AFRICA
THE SKI DECK Randburg has been actively promoting skiing to South Africans for the last 30 years. The South African SNOW SKIING CENTRE in Ferndale, encompasses the full spectrum of Ski and Snowboarding requirements and is involved in LOCAL SKIING in the following manner:
SKI CLOTHING RENTAL
Ski jackets and ski pants may be rented for the following:
Minimum Rental & Weekend Rental: Jacket R290 Pants R225; One-Piece Suit R350 (taken on Thursday and returned on the Monday am ); Extra days: Ski Jacket R90 Ski Pants R75; One-Piece Suit R100;
Midweek and 1 Week Rental: Jacket R450; Pants R380; One-Piece Suit R520; (Taken Friday pm or Saturday and returned Friday am). Extra days: Ski Jacket R90 Ski Pants R75; One-Piece Suit R100 per day;
A deposit of R500 per item is required by C/C (no Debit Cards) or cash (no cheques). Bookings at THE SKI SHOP on 011) 781 6528.
New and second-hand ski clothing available. Accessories such as gloves, hats, ski socks, warm boots and goggles also available
LEARN TO SKI BEFORE YOU GO
THE SKI DECK in FERNDALE has "ski training machines" for teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers. Because local instruction and snow conditions are less than ideal it would be very wise to consider taking some lessons on the Ski Deck prior to your local ski experience - to: give you knowledge of the basics of skiing and ski equipment; reduce your chances of injury; make the most of your time on the snow (especially as you are probably only going for a few days).
The Ski Deck has recently devised a Special Course (of 3 x 1 hour lessons) for Local Skiers, designed to take you quickly to a comfortable level. The cost of this course is R960 - normal price R1260.
Intermediate and advanced skiers would benefit considerably in technique, style and fitness by also availing themselves of this excellent offer (only available to local skiers).
SKI FIT PROGRAM Alternatively people who have skied before may wish to join our SKI FIT PROGRAM -- where every year skiers train on the Ski Deck on a weekly basis and gain tremendous advancement in technique and fitness. Classes are casual and relaxed and generally a trip is taken to ski locally at Afriski in the Malutis (Lesotho) - Any skier who is interested may phone Lew Campbell on 011 781 6528 This is also a good place to meet other skiers and gain information on local skiing. Available from April until September only. Cost: 10 sessions R1500; 20 sessions R2500.
SKI EQUIPMENT RENTAL
South Africa & Lesotho only: Ski sets (boots, ski's & poles ) may be rented for local skiers for the following: weekend : R400 (taken Thurs evening & returned Mon morning); extra days: + R100; 1week: R650;
A booking fee of R250 is required to reserve and have equipment made ready and a refundable deposit of R500 per set is required.

Wax: R220; Edge: R220 per set; Base repairs: R250 per set; R600 Full service;
